Funding and Scholarship Opportunities

Graduate Research Fellowship Workshop

Since 1953, The National Science Foundation has annually awarded  1,000 Graduate Research Fellowships (GRF) to graduate students in their first year and to undergraduate students planning to attend graduate school.  These prestigious fellowships provide three years of financial support, a $30,000 annual stipend, and a $10,500 annual cost-of-education allowance.  See http://www.nsf.gov/grfp for more information.

In preparation for early November application deadlines, the Graduate School is sponsoring a session on Writing NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Proposals. Based on their experience on GRF review panels, Professors Joanne Silverstein (Civil Engineering), Brad Olwin (MCDB), and Mike Grant (EBIO) will give advice on preparing proposals and answer questions.

The session is scheduled for Friday, September 30 at 2:30-4:00PM in UMC 245.

For faculty, please announce this to your students and classes; for eligible students, please plan to attend.
