The Institute of Cognitive Science (ICS) at CU-Boulder has gained an international
reputation for its promotion of interdisciplinary research and training
in cognitive science. The institute is known for theory development and
the application of those theories to real-world problems. The institute
also houses four research centers, the Center for Lifelong Learning and
Design (L3D), the Center for Computational Language and Education Research (CLEAR), the Center
for Research on Training (CRT), and the Interdisciplinary Behavioral Science Center on the Determinants of Executive Function and Dysfunction (DEFD).

- Professor Leysia Palen from the Department of Computer Science will be the keynote speaker for the 2009 IT Support Community Event, "keeping PACE with changes in campus technology."
- Congratulations Steven Bethard and Philipp Wetzel, two ICS students, for receiving the 2009 Vannevar Bush Best Paper Award at the ACM/IEEE-CS joint Conference on Digital Libraries for their work on "Automatically Characterizing Resource Quality for Educational Digital Libraries." Co-authors include Kirsten Butcher, James H. Martin and Tamara Sumner.
- Mike Mozer has been awarded a faculty fellowship for 2009-10 by the Council on Research and Creative Work (CRCW).
