The Institute of Cognitive Science (ICS) at CU-Boulder has gained an international
reputation for its promotion of interdisciplinary research and training
in cognitive science. The institute is known for theory development and
the application of those theories to real-world problems. The institute
also houses four research centers, the Center for Lifelong Learning and
Design (L3D), the Center for Computational Language and Education Research (CLEAR), the Center
for Research on Training (CRT), and the Interdisciplinary Behavioral Science Center on the Determinants of Executive Function and Dysfunction (DEFD).

- CU Neuroscience and Psychology professors emeriti Walter Kintsch and Ken Hammond were both honored recently with pages on the Foundation for the Advancement of the Behavioral and Brain Sciences (FABBS) website. FABBS is an educational non-profit organization established to promote and enhance understanding of the behavioral, psychological, and brain sciences.
- Congratulations to Dr. Robert D. Rupert, Department of Philosophy, on the publication of his book Cognitive Systems and the Extended Mind
- Director of ICS, Marie Banich has been selected as a fellow for the Association for Psychological Science in recognition of her sustained outstanding contributions to the advancement of psychological science. Her selection was made by the Board outside the standard nomination process because of her significant accomplishments in the field.
